Sectional Radiators

A new and innovative product from Bearward designed to be the total cost radiator solution for the power generation industry. The sectional design has many benefits:

Manufacturing Consistency
Bearward's sectional radiators give the highest levels of process control. Manufactured with the aid of the latest automated processes, quality is absolutely consistent - every time. Sectional radiators eliminate the need for large numbers of fastners, and dramatically cut down on assembly time.

Reduced Early Life Failiures
In 2005, Bearward tightened over 8 million nuts during its assembly process procedure. Now, any possibilities of gasket leaks are eliminated and tube-header leaks are minimised in the process.

Longer Life
In tests designed to replicate field conditions, the micro strain measurements on the header plate in service are reduced tenfold, as is the ability of the radiator to withstand hot-shutdown conditions - thereby dramatically increasing the life of the product.

Reduced Cost of Production
Automation of the Core Manufacturing process coupled with the virtual elimination of fastners dramatically reduces the labour content required to manufacture each radiator.

Dramatically Improved Servicability
Renowned for excellent after sales service across the globe, the development of sectional radiators ensures that response times are even faster.

If a radiator is damaged, only the section needs to be replaced. This can be carried out efficiently on site without the need to remove the whole radiator from the genset, making repairs much quicker and easier. It also allows individual sections to be taken out for cleaning if the radiator is operating in dirty conditions.

After-sales engineers and parts can be on site, around the globe, in hours rather than days. Spares are easily stored and of standard design - and allowing ease of replacement, reducing downtime to an absolute minimum.

Cuprobraze

A product for charge air cooling under arduous conditions, CuproBraze® is significantly stronger: 1.5-3 times stronger than conventional cores, able to withstand temperatures in excess of 350°C+ and pressures of 4 bar.

Brazed at 660°C, CuproBraze® is tough enough to survive the conditions where conventional brass/copper and aluminium radiators fail. CuproBraze® units are compatible and interchangeable with standard sectional products.

With the latest advances in turbocharger technology Cuprobraze® products are often the only viable solution to achieve the required high temperature, pressures, and performance levels

Engine Mounted Radiators

Bearward produce a complete range of bolted and soldered construction engine mounted radiators which are designed for industrial applications under world wide operating conditions. These are available with core face areas from 0.3m2 to 4.2m2, compatible with standard options.

Belt Driven Radiators

Bearward produce a standard range of belt drive radiators from 0.6m2 to 6m2. By using aerofoil section fans and varying fan speed Bearward produces radiators giving:

  • High ambient capacity
  • Low acoustic levels
  • Reduced radiator size

Heavy duty bearings support the fan drive & shaft and, where required, a belt tension mechanism is fitted.

Remote Radiators

Site conditions may require that a radiator is placed at a distance from the engine to be cooled. Bearward manufacture a wide range vertical and horizontal models to meet varying physical and noise constraints. Standard foot mounted motors are incorporated into the electrical motor driven range with motor driven belt drives as an option. Special voltages, insulation classes and flame proofing are available on request.

The fans are constructed using cast aluminium or reinforced plastic with variable pitch aerofoil section blades to achieve high pressure head capability and efficiency.

Low noise level options are available and can be supplied with silencers for additional noise reduction. The standard electric driven range is typically offered with 200-400 Pa of pressure reserve available for external system resistance.

By combination of high performance cores and aerofoil selection fan designs can be achieved which offer:

  • Compact space saving cooling systems
  • Low power consumption
  • Low air volume flow
  • Low package cost
  • Low noise levels
